Lectures and Competition Judging
Lectures
As an established Lecturer on the photographic Club and Society circuit, Andy enjoys a reputation for producing thought-provoking monochrome lectures printed in a dark and gritty style. He was awarded a highly prized medal at the 2007 London Salon of Photography at his first attempt. This entertaining and knowledgeable photographer is enthusiastic to pass on his detailed knowledge of producing exhibition quality digital monochrome prints.
Judging
I much prefer to do competition judging cold without see the work in advance. The benefit of this approach is to make the result more interesting process for the audience.
Based in Bristol, Andy is happy to travel to give talks to Clubs and Societies. He can also be booked at weekends for Conferences, Seminars and Workshops.
Booking costs
The cost of a talk or demonstration will include a professional fee of £50 PLUS PAGB agreed travel and subsistence rates. As a self-employed photographer, I need to keep my accountant happy.
The cost of a judging will include a professional fee of £25 PLUS PAGB agreed travel and subsistence rates. As a self-employed photographer, I need to keep my accountant happy.
You may like to think about holding a one or two-day Pixels to Print Workshop to help defray travel costs, due to the considerable distance Andy travels to give lectures and judge competitions.

Just a short note to thank you very much for your entertaining talk last night.
As a almost completely Photoshop user, your clarification of Lightroom techniques was an eye opener.

Me and My Eye
This is an all mono print talk with A3 prints in the first half and Mounted A2 size prints in the second. A large print stand is required to present panels of prints side by side. I will supply floor lighting if necessary.

“He (Andy) chooses by light what we, the viewer, will focus upon, but it is his darkness, the detail, the fabulous print quality which draws us in and leaves us with remarkable, atmospheric and enigmatic moments that remain long in our visual memory. He has honed a style which delights, enchants and amazes. Thank you for yet another evening of your fantastic monochrome prints at Backwell.”
Hilary Britland

Every picture tells a story
The talk will be a farrago of locations, styles and tall tales, most of them entirely true. Consisting of A2 size mono prints from my travels in the last few years. These prints have not been included in other talks. Don’t think that means second best; there are stunning images.

“Many thanks for last night’s interesting, informative and amusing talk. As you might have noticed, you were asked numerous questions, which to me shows that our members were listening well, and your explanations provoked more questions must be good! Thanks very much indeed.”
Liz Cooper – Tetbury Camera Club
“Personally speaking, I greatly enjoyed your refreshing views of the “club photography box”, which I am sure gave our members a licence and passport to try these strong mono images for themselves. Your prints are superb, and the subject and light ensured the images will stay in our minds for a long time”. An excellent evening, thanks.
Sue Buller – Kingston Camera Club

The Digital Monochrome Print
The lecture demonstrates how you can make digital monochrome prints that have the look, taste and smell of a darkroom fibre based paper.
This talk is a mixture of A2 prints and “how to” with a laptop.
The second half of the talk is a demonstration of Photoshop and Lightroom techniques for creating stunning black and white pictures.

“Just wanted to say that your talk last Thursday was very much appreciated by everyone who was there. I had lots of good comments afterwards, so I am sure your next visit to the club will be well attended as was the last. Thanks for doing a super show.”

Lecture Tours
Why not take the opportunity to have a well established national speaker like Andy visit your club? He is aware that all clubs are on a tight budget and the cost of the travel from Bristol to your area can be spread among a number of engagements in the same week.
How it works – The lead club organises the tour so Andy gives the same or a different lecture to the signed up Societies.
A lecture tour can also be booked in association with a 1-day or 2-day Pixels to Print Workshop.
In the first instance please email info@andybeelfrps.co.uk to discuss how your club can benefit from being part of a lecture tour.
