Bude beach huts and flowers in the wind – December 2018

Review of “What You Need To Do Next Is…” Workshop

My kind of afternoon – Camelot Hotel, Tintagel December 2018

The over-riding memory I will have of the “what you need to do next is…” workshop in 2018 is the Force 9 winds that were with us for most of the time. One afternoon at Sandymount Bay the wind was so strong it was difficult to stand up. In my case trying to hold a manual focus lens still was certainly a challenge.

All three participants found the experience of thinking about where there is photography now and where they could potentially be in the future a great help. This was linked with taking pictures in North Devon and Cornwall with a picture review every day. Post-processing was also demonstrated as part of the picture taking and making workflow.

Dates for 2019 what you need to do next is.. workshop have been posted on my website.

“I found the course in N Devon very gratifying, exhilarating even; you packed a lot into just 4 days. A tolerant and patient approach is always welcome, and, for me, you smoothed the transition between from being told what to do to thinking for oneself seamlessly. Perhaps the pace, in that wild weather, was a tad too robust for me, but I’ll know how to adjust for future courses. No problem.”

Great Christmas Presents

“I have a huge book collection and I like books to ‘feel’ right’.  The initial reaction is that it looks and feels an excellent workbook with good quality images and a very clear layout.  The spiral binding allows me to have it flat without risking damaging the spine which can happen.” Dennis Jeffery MSc BA FCA  ATT

“Admire greatly the wide range and style of your photos.  Great stuff.  I live in Provence and struggle to achieve what I want from my photography, partly due to the difficulties of learning in another language.  SO …. when I came across your book it seemed a fabulous source of invaluable information.”

Rosie Jackson – Provence

Lightroom update

In the very latest version of Lightroom Classic (version 8.1) that came out last week, there is the facility to move the right-hand control panels around. I have been waiting for this great workflow benefit for a long time. It now means that some of the critical controls such as Post Crop Vignette can now be moved to the top of the stack of sliders.
